New Year's Resolutions (1-a)
I have made much the same New Year's resolutions every year for the past quarter of a century, although I add one or two now and then and one when there's too many of them.
Life has taught me that the best way to with resolutions and to them ruining your January is to break them all first chance you .
My first one this year was to smoking. I broke that as soon as I saw the first firework over the Thames. I looked down, noticed that I was holding a half-smoked cigarette in my hand, thought, "Ah, what the ," and another drag.
It was such a relief to get one the list so soon. One down, three to go. Will I give it another next year? You I will. And I'll fail again. And it'll just as good as it did this year.
